Black History Month

Black History Month

As part of black history month, Firrhill is running a whole school competition (see below).

The school would also like to invite any parents or carers who would be interested in joining our Rights Respecting School: BAME working group to contact Ms Kupisz via the school office.

The BAME Working group aims to:

  • Raise awareness and celebrate diversity within Firrhill High School and its Cluster

Primaries.

  • Create a positive learning environment for all learners and their families, linking with

the following Rights of the Child:

  • Article 2 (non-discrimination) The Convention applies to every child without discrimination,

whatever their ethnicity, gender, religion, language, abilities or any other status, whatever they think or say, whatever their family background.

  • Article 29 (goals of education) Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and

abilities to the full. It must encourage the child’s respect for human rights, as well as respect for their parents, their own and other cultures, and the environment.

Please send an email to admin@firrhill.edin.sch.uk if you would like anymore information.
